2006 Dodgeball Tournament

EphrataMounts.com celebrated the second annual Dodgeball Tournament, crowning four champions for the Spring of 2006. Thirty-six teams comprising of over 260 players came together to see who would be the last team standing.

The Tournament designed to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes raised over $7000 profit in it's second season. We hoped to triple last year's effor ($741) and we ended up with a nonuple amount. (That's the fancy word for times nine).

We've looked at suggestions and we're already preparing for what we hope will be our best tournament yet, which we hope to have secured in it's final home as a fall event held at the Senior High.

Congratulations, and thanks to all that participated, and all that helped.

Senior Circuit

The Senior Circuit Champion truly went to the last team standing as the teams were placed in an incredibly deep 9 team pool. Two teams came out of the pool play with 7-1 records. The defending Junior Circuit champs the Playground Legends lost to the Ephrata Wrestlers in pool play and the Dodgers lost to the Playground Legends in pool play, which earned the teams the number 1 and 2 seeds heading to the bracket. These two teams worked their way through opposing sides of the brackets and met in the Finals where the Dodgers (10-1, 22-2) avenged their only loss sweeping the Playground Legends (9-2, 19-11) 3 games to 0. The Dodger's mark of 22 games won to two games lost marked a tournament best.

Junior Circuit

In the Junior Circuit the Power Rangers (8-0) never tasted defeated, something no other team from any circuit could claim this year. They also finished with an impressive 17-4 games won-loss record. The junior circuit featured 15 teams this year placed into three pools of five teams. In the finals the Power Rangers defeated the Wombats (6-1, 13-6), who also came into bracket play with an undefeated record. This final was also decided 3 games to 1.

Adult Circuit

The tournament held the first Adult bracket as teams from all across Lancaster County converged in the Ephrata High School gym. The home crowd left disappointed as two Lancaster City teams battled it out in the championship for supremecy.

House of Pizza, who finished second in their bracket to the Demolition, eventually worked their way through the loser's bracket defeating Manheim Auto Auction (6-2, 13-8) twice along the way to meet the Demolition in the finals. In the first best of five the crew from House of Pizza (6-3, 15-12) prevailed 3 games to 2. But when it came time to defeat Demolition back to back, the Pizza crew had nothing left in the tank as the Demoliton (7-1, 17-5) prevailed 3 games to 1.
