Ephrata Hammers Solanco

ImageI'm not sure if it was bad Solanco coaching, or the fact that Ephrata Mounts Soccer Team had a superior team ... but I do know one thing and that is that Ephrata blasted Solanco 7-0 on Tuesday night. If you think like I think, you'd know Ephrata had a superior team, and if you were at the game last night you'd be an eye-witness to the fact that Ephrata had the ball in Solanco territory approximately 80% of the time.

Paul McHenry scored 2 goals and assisted on another, but was slightly out-shone by senior Derek Sipe who had 2 goals and 2 assists. Dan Hagey scored a goal and assisted on 2 others, while David Wiegner and Dan Szabo also found the back of the net.

The Mounts had a rather slim 2-0 lead at halftime, but several near-goals. The score could have easily been worse for the Mules than it was. But then the Mounts came out firing in the second half scoring 5 goals including 2 within 20 seconds of each other by Dan Szabo and Derek Sipe.

Fernando Buitrago and Thomas Renko also had assists. Sophomore Josh Peiffer had an untested night in goal recording 1 save on 3 shots as the Mounts kept the ball out of the box for most of the night.
