Allen and Pike lead Mounts past ELCO

ImageThe Mounts Ice Hockey team returned to action this week as they turned back ELCO 6-3 (box score). It was all Ephrata in the first period as Sam Wiest started the scoring for the Mounts on an assist from Kyle Sauder. Brandon Pike then fed Jeff Bohler with his first assist of three on the evening. Three minutes later with 8:15 left in the period Pike scored a goal of his own to make it 3-0.

Jeremy Martin scored early in the second period to make it 4-0 and it looked like Ephrata was on their way to another blow out victory. However ELCO's Seric Kapp had other plans as he scored three goals of his own in less then 11 minutes and ELCO pulled within one, cutting the score to 4-3 favor of the Mounts. With 27 seconds left in the period Ephrata's Shane Allen put the biscuit in the basket stretching Ephrata's lead back to two goals.

The third period was quiet in terms of scoring until with 4:52 left in the match Pike fed Allen giving the Mounts a comfortable three goal lead. Devin Williams recorded 18 saves in the victory.
