Mounts continue perfect seasons

The Ephrata boys remained unbeaten and moved closer to their first section title in 30 years with a 77-73 win at Lampeter- Strasburg Wednesday in a Section Two firstplace showdown.

With the meet too close to call near the end, the Mountaineers (40) sealed the win with a sweep in the triple jump. Miracle Wratto won the event with a mark of 39 feet, 7.75 inches, followed by Owen Morrongeillo (39-1) and Dylan Leid (37-9.5).

Ephrata also racked up 31 points in the distance events, and Logan Usner picked up key points with second-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (11.5 seconds) and 200 (23.7).

“This means everything to them,” said Ephrata head coach Wayne Hooper. “They dialed in. No one talked on the bus ride here. It was high emotion.”

The Ephrata girls also kept their perfect record intact with an 83-67 win over the Pioneers to take sole possession of first place in the section.
